The concept of immersing yourself in a digital world where you can interact with computer-generated characters sometimes seems like the stuff of science fiction or the distant future.

What is Dark Matter?

Role: Producer and Animator

Physicist Alex Sushkov, an assistant professor of physics at Boston University College of Arts & Sciences, discusses the decades-long hunt for dark matter. Sushkov is building a device to detect axions—particles first postulated in 1977 but never detected. If they exist, say theorists, axions will be smaller than neutrinos, which are so tiny that they have nearly no mass. The quest to find axions seems quixotic, but, if Sushkov succeeds, he may answer a cosmic question that has baffled scientists for decades: What is dark matter?

BU Capoeira Club

Role: Producer and Videographer

Capoeira originated in 16th-century Brazil, when slaves, forcibly brought from Africa to work on sugarcane farms and living in horrible conditions with no weapons to defend themselves, developed self-defense techniques. It was later banned in Brazil, but in 1940 was legalized and became popular. By the 1970s, capoeira masters were introducing the stylized martial art, which combines fight, music, acrobatics, and choreography, across the globe.
